AFC modules form a compact and safe unity
The AFC-unity (Automatic Frequency Control) is a key component within a control loop for frequency tuning of magnetron-operated linear accelerators (LINAC).

A microwave circuit integrated in the AFC observes the forward  running and reflected signal between magnetron and accelerator cavity.

Then the module generates two output signals which act in proportion to the phase difference of the two high frequency input signals.

From this procedure results a reliable regulated quantity which is necessary for continuous frequency tuning of the magnetron.
